The Skullpion, designed by Christine Noble melds two bold symbols, the skull and scorpion, both revolving around themes of life, death, healing and protection. Traditionally, scorpions are revered for their healing properties as their venom is used in some forms of medicine. The scorpion is also one of the only beings believed to be able to traverse the physical and mystical realms simultaneously. In Borneo, the women who would dye fabrics for head hunting cloths with blood would wear the scorpion tattoo to protect them from taking on bad energy and warding off evil spirits.
